COATING OF SELF-TAPPING SCREWS

Self-tapping screws have come into common use and competed with nails a long time ago.

Coating is protective, because it prevents corrosion. This is an important reason for applying the most stable coat of paint, as water ingress or the moisture will lead to the appearance of rust on the unpainted screw head. At first, spoiled spots will appear on the finish, and later screws will completely crumble, deforming the entire structure.

Aesthetic function- harmonious combination with the surface of the fixed structure. Using of different shades will make the heads less visible, which will have a positive effect on the overall appearance.

So the painting of the screws metal surface will significantly extend their service life, increasing the reliability of the entire fastening.

The best way to use these products is to use powder paint, since it is able to fill the smallest elements of the head without closing the slots for the screwdriver, and has all the necessary strength characteristics.

Painting instructions are as follows:

  • The first step is to prepare the surface. This requires completely removing traces of oil, grease and other contaminants with white spirit.
  • After complete drying, the self-tapping screws are placed in a spray booth, where they are treated with a powder composition with special vaporizers. In this case, the lower part of the pressure pad must remain intact in order not to lose the tightening force.
  • The final step is to place the products in a polymerization furnace, in which the paint spreads under the influence of a temperature of 200 degrees Celsius and evenly fills all the pores.
